Mac Studio
A desktop machine for heavy-duty work: video, 3D, large projects. They buy it when rendering time is working hours, not waiting time. For email and browsers, it's an overkill, and it's more honest to say so before ordering.

Who needs Mac Studio?
Mac Studio is a desktop Mac designed for professional workloads. Apple makes it for video editors, 3D artists, developers, and engineers. Typical tasks include video editing and color correction, rendering, large project assembly, and local AI models.
The case is square, about 20 centimeters on a side, and fits under a monitor. It remains quiet under load.
For email, browsing, and office applications, this is overkill. For heavy-duty weekly work, a Mac mini with a Pro chip will do the job, and it's significantly cheaper.
Max or Ultra
The Mac Studio comes with Max and Ultra chips. The Ultra is two Max chips combined into one. It has twice the processor and graphics cores, and can accommodate hundreds of gigabytes of RAM.
- Max — high-resolution editing, 3D, and development. Up to five monitors.
- Ultra — uncompressed 8K video, heavy scenes, and large AI models right on your computer. Up to eight monitors.
Most editors and developers are satisfied with Max. Ultra is used by studios whose computers are busy from morning until night.
Memory and storage are not upgradeable after purchase. Choose them based on the most demanding project you're working on.
Ports and monitors
The rear features four Thunderbolt 5 ports, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, and two USB-A ports. The front features USB-C ports and an SD card slot. External drives, monitors, and the camera's card can be connected without adapters. Thunderbolt 5 transfers data at up to 120 Gbps, allowing the external array with video sources to function almost like a built-in drive.
The Mac Studio doesn't have its own display. Apple offers a Studio Display as a companion, and for color and HDR work, a Studio Display XDR. Your existing monitor will also work.
