Apple Watch Ultra 3: For water, mountains, and long workouts
The Ultra 3 comes in one size: a 49mm titanium case in black or natural. The display is covered with sapphire crystal and offers up to 3000 nits of brightness, brighter than the Series 11 and SE 3. The case is IP6X dust-resistant and MIL-STD 810H tested.
The battery lasts up to 42 hours on a single charge, up to 72 hours in power saving mode. Fifteen minutes of charging provides up to 12 hours of use.
Water resistance to 100 meters and EN13319 certification allow scuba diving to depths of up to 40 meters. A depth gauge and water temperature sensor are built into the watch. For mountaineering, there's dual-frequency GPS, an altimeter from -500 to 9,000 meters, a compass, and a siren.
The Ultra 3 uses satellite to call for emergency assistance, send messages, and provide location information in areas where cellular service is lost. Check the Apple support website to see if satellite service is available in your country. All Ultra 3 models are available in a GPS + Cellular version.
Ultra 3 or Series 11
The Ultra 3 weighs about 62 grams, while the Series 11 in 46mm titanium weighs about 43 grams. On a thin wrist, the difference is noticeable. If you need a watch for everyday use and for swimming, the Series 11 will suffice: it has a battery life of up to 24 hours and a water resistance of 50 meters.
The Ultra 3 justifies its weight in situations where it can go two days without charging and underwater, where the Series 11's depth gauge runs out, and in depths deeper than 6 meters. Both models share the same health features: ECG, blood oxygen, hypertension and sleep apnea alerts, and sleep assessment.
